Unsafe Driving Conditions: Keep a Close Eye on Your Tires

A lot of attention is given, rightfully so, to road safety. We spend thousands of hours a year inside a small(ish) metal box speeding along besides other small(ish) metal boxes. Every time we climb inside a vehicle we are taking a calculated risk. While we may collectively fear plane crashes, statistically we are far more likely to be injured in a car crash. While that might sound alarmist it is simply a fact of modern life. Cars are our primary mode of transportation and we are obligated to keep them as safe as possible on the road, not only for ourselves but for all of our fellow drivers. One of the most important things you can do to ensure your safety, and that of your loved ones, is keep a close eye on your tires. Not sure what to look for? We are. Winter weather hazards

Here in the Pacific Northwest Winter=Water!

One of the more common concerns we address at Hillside Imports during our winter months is water intrusion. The calls increase following a powerful weather system like the one that just passed through our area last weekend.

Sometimes the first indication you have a problem is an odd sloshing sound of water moving back and forth as you turn a corner. Sometimes what you experience is a sopping wet floor mat. Or maybe you find yourself with a tell tale drip or two falling on your head during your morning commute. However you discover that water is no longer staying where it should it is important to have the repairs done promptly.

Fix it or forget it?

Fix it or forget it? We field this question from our customers regularly when we’ve had to give a lengthy list of recommended repairs. Often this occurs after an extended absence from our service bays. One of the reasons we recommend regular visits is so that our highly skilled technicians can spot small problems before they snowball into costly repairs. For instance. all too often an oil leak can go unseen, after all many VW and Audi vehicles come equipped with a large under car cover that would mask the telltale oil droplets on your garage floor. That oil leak can then be left to ooze all over rubber or plastic components nearby or underneath causing those components to break down and fail leading to increased repair costs. If we see your vehicle regularly, every six months or 5000 miles, then we can keep you informed about the condition of your engine which saves you money down the road.
